Precor looks for new distributor in India

Precor has announced that as of January 1, 2016, the company will no longer be collaborating with Chennai-based Gympac Fitness for distribution in India. Mr. Clifford Manifold, Regional Sales Director for Precor in South-East Asia and India, said the decision was a very difficult one for both parties after a successful 18-year partnership.

Precor is a subsidiary of Amer Sports Corporation, one of the world's largest sports equipment companies, with internationally recognized brands.

"However, we are extremely positive about Precor's future in India," Manifold said in an official press note. "A number of exciting changes are taking place, particularly in the area of acquisitions and new partnerships."
"We are currently talking with several parties to re-launch Precor in India, and we look forward to announcing our new local partner very soon," Manifold added.

"In addition to these exciting changes at Precor, in the 18 years we've been providing our premium equipment to the fitness industry in India, we've also launched our award-winning Adaptive Motion Trainer (AMT), our Next Generation treadmill, Preva Networked Fitness, and our exclusive innovation events," Manifold recalled, adding: "These were designed to help Indian fitness club operators build the best businesses they can."

"The future is incredibly exciting for Precor. By the beginning of 2016, Precor will be providing not only the world's best cardio and strength equipment, but also the world's best spinning cycles and multi-functional training solutions," he said.

Reliable industry sources have confirmed that, from January 2016, Gympac Fitness will take on responsibilities as the exclusive distributor in India for the US-based equipment major, Life Fitness. The latter was represented in India for more than 20 years by the Delhi-based distributor, Cardio Fitness.
