IFAA-India shows might in kettlebells

The India chapter of Germany-based International Fitness and Aerobics Academy (IFAA-India) bagged three medals, and loads of other prizes, at India’s first Kettlebell Championship League, which had a top prize of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The countrywide competitions were organised in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata since the beginning of the year, culminating in the finals at Body Power expo in Mumbai on 22 March.

Urmi Kothari was adjudged the best among women. She is a Master Trainer with IFAA-India and owner of Kinetic Living in Mumbai. Another IFAA-India Master Trainer, Devrath Vijay, bagged the second spot in the men’s under-70-kg category. He is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and owner of The Outfit functional training gym in Bangalore.

Dony Lonappan, IFAA-India Master Trainer and strength and conditioning coach, was placed third in the men’s above-70-kg category.

The contests are preceded by awareness demonstrations and kettlebell certification workshops in all these, and many other, cities. The largest platform for kettlebell lifters and fitness enthusiasts was organised by Pune-based Energy Kettlebell Fitness Academy and Mumbai-based Unlimited Nutrition.
